How the Lights Work, and Replacing the Batteries
All purses can accept a manual light while only some models work well with an automatic light. For purses where both types of lighting will work, we give you a choice on your order. Dont forget to pick a purse color and type of light, automatic or manual, when those options are offerred.
Manual Light Purses - These purses require the button be pushed to turn the light on. It is turned on “manually” by pressing the round dime sized button on the face of the light device. This is the best choice if the purse is used intermittantly or rarely at night. Batteries last longer and it is a more practical approach.
Automatic Light Purses - These purses have an actuator which turns the light on automatically whenever the purse is opened. These purses have a leather pouch on each side of the top inside of the purse. The larger pouch has the light device and the smaller leather tab has an actuator installed. If the purse has an actuator installed in the purse, then the light in turned on “automatically” when the purse is opened and closed. The actuator is a small magnet which triggers the light circuit to go on and off. When the magnet comes close to the light device the circuit is triggered. This is a good idea for purse used at night on a regular basis.
Lights Go Off Automatically - The light will stay on for 60 seconds and then goes off automatically to save battery power. So it does not have to be turned off as it will go off automatically. Or it can be clicked off by pressing the top of the device.
Batteries Can be Replaced - The light device is removed from the leather pouch by pushing it out the top of the pouch. The light is provided by an LED light operated by a microchip switch which is powered by 2 coin cell batteries (CR2032, 3 volt). The batteries may be replaced by turning the round black plastic cylinder on the back of the device counter clockwise 1/4 turn. Replacement CR 2032 batteries may be purchased at any drug store. The first battery is installed with the negative side of the battery toward the interior of the device, with the second battery placed behind the first with the negative pole also facing toward the interior of the device. The round black plastic cylinder on the back of the device is then placed over the 2 coin batteries and pressed in and turned 1/4 turn clockwise. After the batteries are replaced the light device is placed into the leather pouch with the LED protruding downward through the hole in the bottom of the leather pouch. It’s now ready to go.
